With a special concert program, one of the world's most famous chamber orchestras, Gidons Krēmers' Kremerata Baltica, celebrate its 25th anniversary season at Concert Hall Great Amber.
The anniversary concert feature a special guest – rising Polish pianism star Adam Kośmieja, who has already made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, released a solo album under the prestigious Warner Classics label and gotten brilliant reviews all over the world. His first concert in Liepāja was with the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra. The expressive pianist performs Alfred Schnittke's Concerto for Piano and Strings, the interpretation of which by Kośmieja has been especially highly praised by critics.
The second part of the program is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the sound perfectionist and researcher Georgs Pelēcis. The global ambassador of Georgs Pelēcis' music is his collaborator and schoolmate Gidons Krēmers, to whom Pelēcis has dedicated many of his pieces. Krēmers is the one who has brought Pelēcis' music to international stages. We will hear floral magic in his Dance of the Peonies for vibraphone and strings, Astor Piazzolla, Oskar Strock and Me (Buena Riga) (2001) – a phantasy dream where Buenos Aires tango melodies meet motifs by the king of Latvian tango, Oskars Stroks, and the brightly joyous and lively Concertino Bianco for piano and strings.
The celebration is enriched by several pieces created for Kremerata – Jēkabs Jančevskis' Lignum and Kristaps Pētersons’ Music for a Large Ensemble.
