Georgs Pelēcis’ cycle Seasons has previously not been recorded. In order to show listeners the exclusivity of Pelēcis’ music, which searches for both harmony and a deeper meaning in a seemingly simple composition, representative of the younger generation of Latvian pianists Linda Leine has chosen to perform piano music dedicated to seasons from the composer’s extensive body of work.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CONCERT. 104 YEARS OF LATVIA

In celebration of 104 years of the Republic of Latvia, Liepāja Great Amber Concert Hall are inviting all to a festive state celebration concert honoring Latvian academic and folk music with contemporary Latvian a cappella band Latvian Voices, pianist Reinis Zariņš, and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra led by conductor Kaspars Ādamsons.

Arturs Maskats is one of the most brilliant contemporary Latvian composers, whose creative focal point has been the creation of theater scores. This influence is also noticeable on the deeper levels of his other works. In this year of the composer’s 65th birthday, a new chamber program will guide us across the world of his theater score creations, together with actors from the Mikhail Chekhov Rīga Russian Theatre and the Liepāja Theatre.
