BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER. EUROPAKONZERT
Liepājas Simfoniskā orķestra 143. sezonas noslēgumā vienā programmā savienosies latviešu komponists Jānis Mediņš un vācu simfoniskās mūzikas lielmeistari Roberts Šūmanis un Johanness Brāmss.
Concert series PERSONALLY
The life of Ukrainian singer, conductor, and musicologist Oksana Nikitiuk was changed by the war – she is currently a soloist with the State Academic Choir Latvija, she has performed with Sinfonietta Rīga and still continues performing in Ukraine, gradually introducing works by Latvian composers into her repertoire. A special program is being created for Liepāja to include folk melodies as well as folklore-inspired Ukrainian and Latvian original music. Agony and life, brutality and tenderness.
Concert series PERSONALLY
Franz Schubert is an unmatched songwriter – his melodies shine in incredible beauty, and he is able to capture the dramatism of a whole lifetime in a two-page miniature. In the cycle Winterreise, our lyrical protagonist converses with his beloved, his tears like fiery roses, flames in the distance, a gleaming hope of spring, three suns shining in the skies, and an endless road ahead of him.
We will celebrate the 105th anniversary of Latvia together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and pianist Andrejs Osokins, who, under the leadership of conductor Jānis Liepiņš, will proudly explore the work of several authors of Latvian music, all so wonderful and different in their artistic expression. Truly brilliant, yet rarely performed pieces by masters of symphony music Ādolfs Skulte and Jānis Ivanovs will be performed among the spectrum of noteworthy composers in the program. An original piece by contemporary composer Zigmars Liepiņš, who grew up in Liepāja, will be a special treat of the concert, as it was composed specifically for this occasion.
Concert series PERSONALLY
One of the best recorder players of the world, Erik Bosgraaf from the Netherlands, has created an exquisite program throughout the eras together with harpsichord player Ieva Saliete. It will feature works by rarely performed Italian, Spanish, and Dutch masters, opuses by late German baroque geniuses Telemann and Bach, as well as brief expeditions of the historical instruments into contemporary music.
